Ms. Ferguson is a Partner with VTD with a concentration on providing Financial Management and Advisory Services to K-12 school districts, county offices of education, charter schools, and community colleges throughout California.  Her specialized services include financial reporting, budget development, business office studies, student attendance, ASB, and facility accounting, and staff training.  She has provided numerous workshops and individualized trainings in the areas of year-end closing requirements, K-12 student attendance accounting, and Associated Student Body (ASB) Accounting.

Prior to joining VTD in 1999, Ms. Ferguson’s experience included over 19 years working in school district business offices and the Riverside County Office of Education in various capacities.  Her oversight and management responsibilities included school district accounting, data processing, business systems review and development, student attendance systems review, as well as providing support to district staff through the county.  She was integral in the preparation and monitoring of the $4 million data center budget.  She has participated in the successful implementation of several information technology conversion projects.

Ms. Ferguson has expanded her past experiences as a trainer and communicator by providing annual internal staff training on all aspects of hand-on school business practices to more fully align the financial statement audit process with real world situations.  This enables our staff to understand the implications of the California state budget as they apply to district processes and procedures.

Ms. Ferguson is a much-requested speaker throughout the state on topics including Year-End Closing and Independent Study Guidelines for CASBO.  She is a regular presenter at the CASBO CBO Boot Camp.  She has also developed workshops for individual districts and county offices to help understand compliance requirements for reporting federal and state categorical programs, student attendance, Associated Student Body (ASB), budget development, and business office staff training.


Ms. Ferguson is a member of the California Association of School Business Officials (CASBO) and is active within the Eastern Section Finance R & D Committee.  She has previously served on the Accounting R & D Committee and has been the past president of CASBO’s Riverside sub-section.
