Ms. Lam is a California Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Internal Auditor, a Certified Management Accountant, and a partner with VTD. Her primary area of practice is in providing audit and advisory services to governmental entities including K-12 school districts, charter schools, county offices of education, joint powers authorities and municipalities. Additionally she works with commercial enterprises providing accounting services. Over the past 15 years, Ms. Lam has worked closely with our governmental clients to ensure compliance with federal and state program requirements as well as the reporting requirements for financial statements.
Ms. Lam provides advisory services in areas such as OMB Circular A-133 compliance for categorical grant funding provided through federal agencies. In the current financial environment ensuring compliance, transparency and accountability for the spending of federal dollars is key to complying with the mandates of the various oversight departments and agencies.
In addition, as school districts have issued general obligation bonds under the authority of Proposition 39, Ms. Lam has provided financial statement audits and compliance audits to the district boards and Bond Oversight Committees.
Ms. Lam is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the California State Society of Certified Public Accountants (CSCPA), the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). She is also a member of the California Association of School Business Officials (CASBO) and the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers (CSMFO). Through the AICPA, Ms. Lam is a member of the Peer Review Program. She is also a member of the California Board of Accountancy Peer Review Oversight Committee.
