Mr. Brewer is a California Certified Public Accountant, Certified Fraud Examiner and a partner with VTD. His practice is specialized in audit, advisory services, litigation support, and fraud examinations.
Mr. Brewer has over thirty years experience in public accounting in addition to several years managing government and commercial enterprises, including chief financial officer for a start-up test equipment manufacturer. This breadth of experience has benefited his current client base in providing a hands-on level of understanding for the management and operational reviews he conducts. Advisory services have included internal, performance, operational, and compliance audits; organizational studies and internal control systems evaluations as well as negotiations support and strategic planning.
In working with governmental entities, Mr. Brewer has provided services to, special districts, K-12 school districts, county offices of education, and community college districts throughout California. He is a recognized leader in providing advisory services related to budget development, internal control systems, compliance and fraud investigations, as well as reporting to those charged with governance.
Mr. Brewer regularly attends conferences developed and presented by the AICPA, CalCPA Education Foundation, and ACFE as well as VTD sponsored courses. He is a member of the CalCPA Governmental Relations Committee, and past member of the CalCPA Peer Review Committee. He is a frequent speaker, providing updates to financial reporting requirements as well as compliance and regulatory issues.
Mr. Brewer is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA); California State Society of Certified Public Accountants (CSCPA); and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) .
