Experience

Mr. Alonzo is a California Certified Public Accountant and partner with VTD specializing in providing accounting, audit and advisory services to a variety of clients. For over fifteen years he has worked with community banks, not-for-profit organizations and educational entities throughout the state.

Mr. Alonzo developed his expertise with community banks from the De Novo start up stage to institutions with assets in excess of $200 million. He has worked with registrants with reporting requirements to the SEC and understands the complex regulatory environment community banks in California are now facing.

In addition to his commitment to the banking industry, Mr. Alonzo also provides audit and advisory services to community colleges and institutions of higher education as well as K-12 school districts and county offices of education. He understands the complex regulatory reporting environment related to the single audit compliance requirements particularly as they apply to student financial aid awards and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funding.

Mr. Alonzo serves as the Firm’s representative to the AICPA’s government Audit Quality Center and is the technical representative for the Firm’s community college practice group. He is responsible for the technical training of our staff and assists in communicating the requirements associated with reporting financial activity to management, governing boards and the state and federal oversight agencies.
