Mr. Major is a California Certified Public Accountant and a partner with VTD. His primary area of practice includes audit, accounting and advisory services to commercial and governmental entities throughout California. In his role as partner on these engagements, the focus is on accountability, compliance and transparency in reporting in accordance with applicable standards.
Mr. Major has worked with small start-up companies up to established corporations. Some of the industries served include software development, manufacturing, car dealerships and retail sales. He has worked through the accounting and tax implications of mergers and acquisitions for these entities. The focus of his tax practice has been on the issues surrounding revenue recognition and compliance with IRS code as well as issues with filing in multiple states.
As a current member of the CSCPA Government Accounting and Auditing Committee, and the CSCPA Accounting Principles and Auditing Standards Committee Mr. Major has participated in the research and development of new accounting standards and the implementation of standards as they have been approved. With this unique perspective, Mr. Major provides VTD and our clients with the most up-to-date information on changes in the regulatory environment and the procedural knowledge to implement the required standards.
Mr. Major has attended conferences developed and presented by the AICPA and CalCPA Education Foundation to ensure continuing compliance in all areas that he is practicing in. Additionally, Mr. Major has had the opportunity to speak at conferences on the unique aspects of governmental accounting and compliance and is recognized by his peers within the Firm as well as others in the industry as an expert on these changing compliance requirements.
Mr. Major is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the California State Society of Certified Public Accountants (CSCPA). Mr. Major is also the current Chairman of the Board of the Tri Valley Business Counsel.
